Membership Recruitment & Intake
Chapters utilize a process commonly referred to as recruitment for CPC and IFC and intake for NPHC. Recruitment/intake offers students interested in the Greek Community the opportunity to learn about the Greek community, meet chapter members and learn about the individual chapters. Your student should join a chapter that best fits their personality and interests.
Pledging
All fraternity and sorority members experience a period of orientation. Through orientation, your student and other new members will participate in weekly meetings to learn about the University and fraternity/sorority history. They will also participate in leadership retreats, philanthropy projects and social functions designed to meet chapter members and build life-lasting friendships. Chapters have various terms for their new members and may include: pledges, associates, new members or candidates. Orientation lasts six weeks to one semester. Most orientation programs last no longer than eight weeks, but many chapters determine grade point averages before initiating the following semester thus a longer orientation period. The orientation period is followed by initiation, when your student becomes a full member of the chapter.
