Academics

Iowa State fraternities and sororities strive for high scholarship and developing academic excellence among their chapter members. One sign of strong academic ability is a solid grade point average. The Greek Community traditionally maintains a higher G.P.A. than the all-University average. Greek members also have a 74% graduation rate as compared to a 63% graduation rate of non-Greeks on the Iowa State campus.

Programs

To help members succeed academically, chapters have established strong scholastic programs. Assistance and programs can be found in many ways including:

Scholarship Incentives

Greek chapters also participate in friendly competitions to keep their academics above the university standard. Chapters strive for success through the 'Greek Academic Challenge.' This Challenge rewards successful chapters with points towards their Greek Week totals. At Academic Recognition Night, chapters are recognized for their academic success. Awards are given for highest G.P.A., most improved G.P.A., and for highest new member G.P.A. Dean's list recipients are also recognized. At an annual awards ceremony called Vespers, the top Greek chapters are recognized for their academic excellence.
