Residence
Living in the Greek community your college career provides you the opportunity to interact with your brothers and sisters daily. Your Greek chapter is a home away from home.
Many will have the opportunity to live in a chapter house once you have joined a Greek chapter. There are 28 fraternities and 13 sororities with chapter houses. Many are historic while each one has character. Many freshman men choose to live in the chapter house right away while it is common for women to move in their second year.
Each chapter is different, but benefits offered by many of the chapters include:
- full-time, live-in house directors
- full-time cook or catered meals
- 24-hour kitchen
- staff, i.e. cleaning staff, gardener, repair-person
- on-site parking
- roommate selection options
- suite-style living to shared rooms and cold/warm air dormitories
- free use of laundry machines
- and more…
Tours of chapter houses are offered at each University Orientation session in June and Experience Iowa State day throughout the year.
