Alpha Omicron Pi is an international women's fraternity promoting friendship for a lifetime, inspiring academic excellence and lifelong learning, and developing leadership skills through service to the fraternity and community. The values on which AOII was founded help lead us in the decisions we make and the behaviors we exhibit in our daily lives. We are inspired to promote the values of simplicity, integrity, circumspection, tolerance, generosity, personal dignity, and love. Our lives are to be living symbols of these values that we hold in common. They enable us to go with character and confidence into the world around us, confidently knowing AOII is ours, offering friendships and opportunities throughout our lifetime.

PhilanthropyRun for the Roses to Strike Out Arthritis is our chapter's annual philanthropy. It is a 5K and 10K walk/run and kid's fun run held every fall. The event is coordinated with the members of the Ames Area Running Club. Proceeds from Run for the Roses are donated to the Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation which distributes donations for arthritis research grants and other research funding. At Vespers 2015, Iota Sigma Chapter was awarded Best Philanthropy Event for the third time! In 2016 for the 30th annual event, Run for the Roses raised $30,000! In 2015, Alpha Omicron Pi began an event called Smoke Out Arthritis in the spring semester! At this event we offered a meal of a pulled pork sandwich, chips, cookies, and pop for $5! Through this event we were able to raise $1,200 for the Arthritis Foundation!
