Councils
The Greek chapters at Iowa State University are governed by one of four councils: Collegiate Panhellenic Council (sororities), Interfraternity Council (fraternities), National Pan-Hellenic Council and Multicultural Council (multicultural fraternities and sororities). Although each of the organizations may be unique, the main missions are the same and include scholarship, philanthropy, leadership and friendship.
Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC)
When you join one of the Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) sororities, you not only become a member of that
particular chapter, you also become a member of the Panhellenic community. The Collegiate Panhellenic Council
governs National Panhellenic chapters and affiliate chapter membership on campus.
Interfraternity Council (IFC)
Fraternity men can expect more from their leaders. The Interfraternity Council aids its member fraternities and
colonies in the areas of recruitment, risk management, and academic achievement, service, public relations,
budgeting, and educational programming. The Interfraternity Council is among the top-rated councils of its size
in the Midwest.
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)
The Multicultural Greek Council on the Iowa State University campus was created as a vehicle to improve and create
dialogue and cooperation between parallel-goaled organizations. Membership is currently Lation/Latina fraternities
and sororities.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
The National Pan-Hellenic Council is comprised of the historically African-American fraternities and sororities on
the Iowa State University campus. Under NPHC, fraternities and sororities unite to participate in community service
and philanthropic activities that include: highway clean-up, Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanity. NPHC
also participates in leadership programs, balls, informational sessions, and socials to both support communication
among chapters and improve campus minority relations.
